Trying a challenge

I've been looking at challenges to get my mojo flowing.  Here's one that I tried.
This challenge was to make a card using this sketch:
I've always been challenged by sketches.  I never seem to be pleased with the results.  This is like the others I've tried and will probably give up on sketches, but at least I tried.  I used scraps for the squares and cut them out with with a Spellbinders die.  I didn't have any more scraps the right color to finish the card, so just quit where I was.

If you enjoy challenges, you can find more of them in the Labor Day Virtual Card Making Party on the Stars & Stamps blog.  I didn't get past #1.

I decided to go back to my embossing & sanding with embossing folders on the Core-dinations Chocolate Box cardstock.

  1. I really like the card you made. The embossing folder and soft colors are very pretty. A sketch is just a jumping off point, and I love that you added your own twist to the sketch and made it work with what you have.

  2. I think you're interpretation of this sketch came out nicely Velda. That being said challenges, and sketches aren't for everyone and you should only do them if they help to spark your mojo and if they add pressure I'd skio them without hesitation!

  3. I like your card. I was scanning blogs and saw your card and had to back up. The colors and the embossing I like it a lot. No expert but know what I like. Going to check my embossing folders. Like the holly berries too. Already know I don't have that one. Thanks for all you do for our troops and their families.
