Alcohol ink play

I finally got my order for my new alcohol ink toys.  They have been on backorder for over a month.  I'm learning and it's fun.

I spent some time playing with my toys and created a few backgrounds with Yupo paper, alcohol inks, alcohol and the new blower bulb (can't remember what it's called).  I even managed to create a card with part of the blue and silver piece.

I have several more family birthday in March, so I'll be working with the other backgrounds sooon.

Birthday Wishes

I've been waiting for 2 new orders and one order arrived today.  The thin rectangle dies were in that order.  I added it to an alcohol ink background, then added the birthday wishes in circle die and the die cut flower.  All of these die cuts were made from gold cardstock with a brushed surface.  All this was mounted on a white card base.
I have more new toys to play with and another order will be arriving next week.  I'm waiting for it to arrive.

Valentine Hugs

A female relative is nearing the end of radiation therapy for breast cancer.  I made this card of encouragement for her.  I used some very old stamps and dies to make this card.  It's time I used these old supplies that are getting jealous of all the new things.

I'm trying for a bit of humor after an unusual event.  A female relative had an accidental incident with her large dog.  They were playing and their heads collided, resulting in a bump and lots of bruising.  All is okay and they can laugh about it now.

Experimenting with new die

I bought a bunch of dies in the end of the year sales.  Some of them were Christmas dies.  This is one of them:

I tried experimenting with various background to see what worked.  My first thought was that it is and ornament, so it needs to be on a tree.  The backgrounds were too busy to show the detail in this diecut.  I decided to use a more subdued background.  These are the supplies I ended up using.

The mulberry card stack is actually card bases in various colors.  I chose the blue for these cards.  I cut them down to make 2 cards from one card base.

These 2 cards are the same, except for the edges on the blue mulberry cardstock.  On the first card, I used a silver pen around the edges.  On the second card, I used Versamark ink and embossing powder.  I first used white and then went over it with iridescent embossing powder.  This was to go with the white sparkle cardstock that I used for the die cut.

The next 2 cards were made on blue pearlescent paper.  On the first one, I used plain white cardstock for the die cut and white embossing powder for the second.

I used a small piece of silver cord to 'hang' the first 2 ornaments and used white card on the second 2 cards.  Since they were ornaments, I felt the need to hang them on something.  My first attempt  to hang them on a tree made the background too busy.

I've been playing with some of my dies and was surprised to learned that Classic Blue is the color of the year.  I'm not sure who decided this, but I've been using blue with these cards.  Here's a couple more, but I tried stamping a sentiment instead of just using dies.

I've been making these cards 2 at a time so I can use both pieces by combining them.

Playing with dies

I'm trying to figure out the best way to use some of my new dies.  These cards are nearly the same, but in different colors.

The burst die is inset into the negative space in the background, so card is very flat.  This helps protect the fragile 'rays'.  I inserted the die into the space, then turned them over and added liquid glue to back and adhered both pieces to the background layer. The smile in a circle die is from Simon Says Stamp and the friend die is from Heffy Doodle.

New dies

I took advantage of some of the year end sales and ordered some new dies.  This card uses several of the new dies.  This is once again wishing healing hugs to a female relative going through cancer treatment.

The Burst die is from Simon Says Stamps and is cut from gold glitter paper, then inset into the negative space  from the same die cut from blue cardstock.  The blue circle is cut with a Waffle Flower nesting circles die.  The charcoal thin circle is cut with a Simon Says Stamp thin circle frames die.  These dies cut very thin circle frames in a variety of sizes.  The sentiment die is also from Simon Says Stamps and is called Healing Hugs.  There are also shadows for the thin words along with some hearts and a scalloped frame.

The sentiment inside the card is a clear stamp from a set by Crafter's Companion, called Get Well Soon.  I have more new dies to play with so will try some others soon.

Healing Hugs

I made this card for a female relative who is going through cancer treatment.  The lacy die on the front is by Sue Wilson over an embossed background made with a Tim Holtz 3D embossing folder on metallic cardstock.  I added a die cut sentiment inside the oval opening and some sparkly gems.

Holly Christmas card

I keep adding to my cards as I begin getting them in the mail.  This one uses more dies.

The white lacy background die is owned by a friend and designed by Sue Wilson.  I put it on a red card base and added the holly on top.  The holly is cut with a Tim Holtz 3D die and uses green metallic cardstock.  I used a Sharpie pen to add the berries and stem.  The oval is cut with a die from Karen Burniston, called Crosshatch Ovals.  The little gems were sent to me from a friend in Canada.
