Red, white and blue chevrons

I made this card with my new PTI chevron dies.  I cut the red, white & blue chevron strips, then glued them to cardstock.  I mounted them onto shiny gold cardstock, then on a red layer.  It's all mounted on a white card base. 

The eagle is the inner parts of a gold outline sticker, which I had used earlier.  I transferred it with transfer tape and put it on brown cardstock, then trimmed it to match sticker.  The sentiment is also a gold sticker.

I find it difficult to get a good image of cards like this.  The scanner shows good details, but doesn't capture anything shiny.  The photo shows the shine, but doesn't capture the other colors well. 

More fluttering by cards

I decided to make some more cards with sketch 146.  See previous post for the first card and sketch.  I made a few changes and made 4 of these cards.

I made the pink strips narrower than yesterday's card and the butterfly banner longer.  I also changed the ink color on the sentiment and popped the sentiment on foam dimensional tape.  This helps to create a balance in the envelope to keep the butterfly from tearing through the envelope.

Fluttering by to say Hi!

I've been struggling for a long time trying to make cards following Card Sketches.  I worked on that again this week.  I started with this sketch from Operation Write Home:

I started working on this card several days ago.  This is the finished product:

These supplies are all old ones from my stash of papers and stamps.  I stamped the background paper with my new PTI stamps.  The butterfly is punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  Since I used dark cardstock, I had to line this card with lighter paper.

You're the best

I've been playing with my PTI Larger than Life stamps again today.

I stamped the flowers in several colors of Memento ink, London Fog, Lulu Lavender & Grape Jelly.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I stamped it with Colorbox Dragonfly Black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The banner is cut with a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner die.  Butterflies are punch with a Martha Stewart punch.  Papers are scraps from my stash.

New toys

This week, I was in need of some cardstock.  When I went to buy it, shipping was high so I added enough toys to get free shipping.  Now, I'm playing with my new toys.

These are made with the PTI Larger Than Life set of stamps and dies and the PTI Chevron dies.  The sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts.

Flag thank you

I made this card for our troops to send to people who have sent them care packages.  The flag stamp is a very old one from Judikins.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts and embossed in gold on a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner.  The gold background paper was embossed with the Tiny Stars embossing folder from Paper Studio.

Embossed birthday

I made this card for the Operation Write Home Our Daily Bread Designs challenge for January.  The challenge is to make a card using dry embossing.

I used this very old stencil by Sizzix to make the sentiment.  After embossing with the stencil and my Big Shot, I colored the sentiment by patting a Brilliance Rocket Red ink pad over the Happy Birthday.  I cut it out with a square Nestibility and cut the frame with a scalloped square Nestie.



Next, I embossed the patterned paper with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and adhered it to the red frame.  The balloons were punched with a paper punch and popped on foam pop dots with twine added for the string.  I tied the twine in a knot and glued it to the card with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue.  The entire card was placed on a white base card.

Spring daffodils

I spent yesterday making a few more spring daffodil cards.

More Spring Flowers

I decided to change the style of cards I've been trying to make. I was just getting frustrated trying to use patterned paper and sketches. They just don't work easily for me. I realized I need a change when asked pick my favorite 10 cards that I had made in 2012. I couldn't find any that I liked, so I moved to something I do like for a while.

These cards are made with some very old Penny Black wood mounted rubber stamps.  I applied Memento ink directly to the rubber with the dew drop pads.  Stamped them on white cardstock, then cut them out and mounted them on embossed cardstock.  They look simple, but are versatile to use because I included no sentiment.

Spring Flowers

This week's challenge in the OWH Midweek Throwdown was to make a card with Spring flowers.  The daffodil represents spring flowers in my mind.  I've always enjoyed them in early spring.

Daffodil image is a rubber stamp by Penny Black with Memento ink direct to rubber.  The yellow frame is a Martha Stewart Punch around the Page set.  Sentiment stamp is by Make an Impression.
