Remember Evo Templates?

I have purchased many craft suppies over the years.  A lot of them have just been taking up space in my small, crowded craft room.  For this project, I pulled out my Evo Templates.  Do any of you remember them?  There were sold at conventions by Evolving Images (no longer in business) and looked so good in demos.  I haven't touched them for years, until now.
These are the rectangle sets.  There are a number of sizes that fit perfectly together on an A2 card.  I used to use these templates with a stipple brush to create faux layers on card.  The large one in the rear has been labeled for the Rule of Thirds for designing cards.  I found the pattern HERE.

My current use is to decide how I want to cut my designer paper to not waste the pretty designs.  This is a page from a 6" X 6" paper pad by Ki Creations.

These steps helped me decide on the last on, because it wasted less of my pretty paper.  This is how I cut the paper.
I used the 2 lower pieces to make these cards.  The top part will be used later to add a strip to another card.

  1. i have never heard of these templates. I can see where they would be useful. I like the idea of stippling. Thanks for sharing. Now I think I will go to Walmart and look for these paper pads. As if I need more paper. Like you, I am trying to use what I have. There is just something about paper that is hard to resist.

  2. I'm not familiar with these Evo templates but I think you've found a great way to put them to use, in both how to cut your paper and the one with the Rule of Thirds grid drawn on it. It always makes me happy to be able to find a new use for something I was SO convinced I had to have and yet didn't use much. I hope it's giving you the same satisfaction. :)

  3. I loved Evo and Cevo and the whole gang! I managed to buy a bunch of these templates used for nostalgia sake-I wonder what they are up to these days?

  4. "Mr. Evo" passed away within the last few months! Was so sorry to hear of his death. This was such a delightful couple. Have several sets of Evo templates, which I never used; however, I have quite a few of their stamps...great designs! Nelda in TN

  7. great job...the templates you used are so helpful...they could be cut out of cardboard and used the same way couldn't they? I would love the sizes and try to recreate them because I would use them

  8. Have some sitting in my craft abyss. I also have some stamps and stencils that match so you can highlight an area.

  9. Never heard of those, but that's clever. I bet if we saved enough clear packaging, we could make our own. Or maybe use some vellum to make some. Thanks for the tip.

  10. I own every one of those sets and demoed them quite often at a stamp store I lived nearby. I use my paper cutter a lot more now, but those templates still are VERY useful for finding the right placement of the images on the paper. I miss Evolving Images!
